Murielle's story, the need Connect wants to answer
A few months ago, at the IKOUĒ Developers Conference (IDC24), we met Murielle. A single mother of two and president of the Aurore Vision des Femmes association, she left a deep mark on us. Her story forcefully confirmed the urgency of one of our dearest ambitions: Connect.
An encounter at IDC24
In July 2024, IDC24 brought together our community and our partners. It was in this setting that Murielle took the stage to share her fight. Beyond the testimony, this platform allowed her to gather the first promises of funding.
Aurore Vision des Femmes: breaking down prejudice
Through her association, Murielle looks after women and opens up to them trades wrongly believed to be reserved for men. On the front line: waste collection and cleaning the city. Her association signs contracts with its clients and proves, every day, that there is no reason women should not take part in this work.
A fight on the ground, a logistical obstacle
On the ground, daily life remains demanding. Lacking transport, Murielle walks long distances to get the work done. To move faster and serve her clients better, she is missing the essential: a tricycle. That is the meaning of her call today, to rally those who can help her fund this means of transport.
Confirmation of a need
Murielle’s journey confirmed, in the most concrete way, a conviction that already drove us: too many high-impact projects and entrepreneurs in the CAR still lack a bridge to those who can support them. A need as concrete as a tricycle should never go unanswered.
That is precisely what Connect, which we were already preparing, intends to address: the bridge between the diaspora, investors and Central African entrepreneurs to fund high-impact projects. Meeting Murielle invented nothing; it made the urgency of this need impossible to ignore.
Our ambition for the next two years
Within two years, we hope to be able to connect projects and entrepreneurs like Murielle to investors and to the diaspora, through Connect. Murielle’s story reminds us, forcefully, of the urgency of a promise we already carry and fully intend to keep.
